***CONGRESSIONAL ACTION ALERT***

1 August 2007

PLEASE SIGN THE E-PETITION AND SEND TO YOUR CONGRESSMAN

Dear Congressman/woman ___________,

There is a crisis in pop music. More and more Americans want melodic, hummable tunes to listen to while driving, working, playing, and attending concerts. Yet the MUSIC INDUSTRY continues to churn out insufficient musical product year after year: “emo music,” featuring whiny children who are unable to sing; “indie-rock,” another term for poorly conceived rock ‘n roll, poorly played on poorly distorted guitars; or contemporary pop, characterized by repetitive, sampled rhythms, synthesized squeaks, and female vocalists who bleat unreflective lyrics about dancing with boys, dancing with girls, and preparing to go out dancing with boys and/or girls.

THIS MUST STOP. THE TIME TO ACT IS NOW.

As your constituent I urge you to support THE SHARP THINGS in their efforts to bring melody, lyrical sophistication, and most of all,
violins back to pop music! Please attend the IOTA CLUB AND CAFE THIS SUNDAY and send a CLEAR MESSAGE to President Bush: AMERICANS WILL NOT STAND FOR SUBSTANDARD POP MUSIC ANY LONGER!

Thank you for effecting change for a better America.

Sincerely,
